As an assignment editor for the Twin Cities’ market-leading television station, I was oftentimes tasked with reporting on the biggest stories of the day, putting together multimedia pieces for a rapidly growing website covering a large metropolitan area.
My two most-read pieces to date feature an in-depth look into the investigation and trial of Officer Jeronimo Yanez, who fatally shot and killed black motorist Philando Castile in July 2016, sparking widespread protests and embroiling the Twin Cities in a national conversation about police brutality and racial justice.

Another one of the year’s most-read stories featured a second police shooting that made international news after a Somali-American cop killed a soon-to-be married Australian woman in south Minneapolis. I tracked the story over the course of a week as information trickled out from authorities, writing several new stories daily but never losing sight of the larger narrative.
